itzy is one of those groups i only know distantly and mostly via fandom osmosis, but as an enjoyer of survival shows this was an incredible read! the line about wanting to let it go, "before she becomes like any of those unnies on the show, addicted to the pain of trying, trying, trying, and holding onto any speck of hope they can find" makes my chest ache a little, because it's there's a lot of truth there. we've all seen those trainees/idols who keep on trying beyond what feels reasonable, those operating based on sunk cost fallacies when it would probably really be better to quit, but it also helps drives home just how young ryujin and chaeryoung were at the time these things happened? really lovely and hurtful at once.
