Each prompt should be centered around words that have already been said.

Possibilities include a quote of any kind:

RULES

You are not required to have a Dreamwidth account to participate. There are no signups necessary. You may post anonymously if you want.
There will be 4 rounds of this fest and 1 round will be opened each week of the fest. Rounds will be left open for fills and comments, so there is no deadline for participating.
Prompts do not have to be claimed before you write them, and they can be filled by more than one person.
There is no minimum or maximum word count for fills. In the spirit of the fest, we encourage you to write shorter works!
Users are allowed to crosspost their fic on any other site, such as AO3. However, we ask that when possible, writers post the text of their fills as a reply to the prompt and include a link to an AO3 post if they choose to do so, instead of just linking to an AO3 post in their comment. This helps keep discussion in our community!

"hi. yuna said you asked for my number?"

yujin jerks, fingers jabbing at the wrong item from the vending machine. its muffled 'clang' masks the skip of her heart as she turns around to meet shin ryujin's eyes.

"oh? yeah! hi! yes i do, uh. do you want a drink?" how fortunate that rei isn't around to hear her voice squeak nearly an octave higher than usual, or she'd never live this down. with beverage and phone in hand, yujin does an awkward little shuffle before ryujin takes pity on her and gestures towards a quiet corner where they can chat. though it's hard to find any privacy backstage before music shows, this will do.

come to think of it, there's little reason for ryujin to lead her off here when they could have just as easily exchanged niceties on the way back to their waiting rooms side-by side, yujin idly muses as they sip on their drinks and make small talk after exchanging numbers. but she won't say no to this opportunity to study ryujin up close- yes. she can see how the girl from her memories grew up to look like this, features sharper and more defined, but enough of her likeness remains. it has to be her. yujin is certain now.

"did you ever stay in daejeon when you were younger?" yujin suddenly asks.

"yeah?" ryujin's eyebrows go up in surprise as she nods. "yeah, for a couple of months during summer break one year. my parents were busy so i stayed with my aunt. but how did you..."

yujin gulps down the rest of her icy, too-sweet drink. it does nothing to help the warmth creeping up her neck. her next words come out in a rush.

"i was just a kid back then in daejeon. a couple of older boys were teasing a girl who just moved in, so i yelled at them until they ran away." yujin doesn't add the next part about how that girl had shown her thanks, lamely ending with "you kind of look like her so i wondered..."

is it just her imagination or did ryujin's gaze flicker down to her lips for a moment? darn it, she shouldn't have blinked.

"sorry, i don't really remember... it was a long time ago." ryujin looks sincerely apologetic. yujin hastily assures her it's alright, and they're talking now, aren't they? whether ryujin was that girl or not doesn't change the fact that yujin would like to have her number and talk to her more. heck, she'll even walk ryujin back to her waiting room just for those extra ten seconds with her. and if she spends another minute lingering by the door talking some inane nonsense about her dog, it's worth it for the amused grin she elicits from ryujin.

"i really have to go now. i'll text you later," ryujin says, and sends her off with a brief tap to yujin's arm.

yujin practically skips back to her waiting room, all smiles. she brushes off wonyoung's questioning look to pick up her phone when it lights up with a message notification and freezes in her seat.

"unnie? what is it? who did you meet? your face is all red! unnie??"

wonyoung peers over yujin's shoulder to read what yujin's staring at, yet the texts on her screen don't seem to explain why she's gone all tense and flushed.
