RULES
- You are not required to have a Dreamwidth account to participate. There are no signups necessary. You may post anonymously if you want.
- There will be 3 rounds of this fest, and 1 round will be opened each week of the fest. Rounds will be left open for fills and comments, so there is no deadline for participating.
- Prompts do not have to be claimed before you write them, and they can be filled by more than one person.
- Once a round is open, you can continue submitting prompts for it until the end of the fest moderation period. (Ex: On February 17 after Round 3 opens, you’re still allowed to submit prompts to Round 1 and 2.)
- There is no minimum or maximum word count for fills. In the spirit of the fest, we encourage you to write shorter works, but any length is welcome and appreciated!
- Users are allowed to crosspost their fic on any other site, such as AO3. However, we ask that when possible, writers post the text of their fills as a reply to the prompt and include a link to an AO3 post if they choose to do so, instead of just linking to an AO3 post in their comment. This helps keep discussion in our community!
- Feel free to subscribe and join the comm to keep track of updates and view them on your reading page.

In the future she had originally envisioned for herself, before d-day had people crawling up from six feet in the ground, never had Sejeong been a blimp within sight. The girl who existed in her peripheral vision, a social butterfly with so many facets, it’s only obvious now that none of them were her but a construct she built, until the persona she wore was everything and nothing at once.
Sejeong was nothing to her in her life before. But now - now Sejeong was everything to her.
There is a satisfying crunch that comes with breaking bones. The more you hear it the easier it becomes to define the density of the bone that was broken. But when you’re the one doing the breaking, it comes with an additive. There is something addicting to the vibration, the power, one feels that comes with breaking bones beneath their own hands.
It festers in her, with every person she mows down, it grows larger and larger until it’s like it’s wearing her as a second skin. An abomination amongst abominations.
Placing her foot right next to her bat for leverage, she pushes her weight down as she yanks up, dislodging her heavily adorned metal bat from a mangled leg.
“So,” she huffs, trying to regain her breath, pushing her overgrown bangs from her eyes. She pins a note in her mind to ask Sejeong for a haircut.
“Shall we try this again?”
Too stuck in her own head, she almost disregarded the scream that came from the woman under her foot until a watery voice sobs out, “I don’t know.”
She clicks against the back of her teeth, sliding her foot slightly to the right until the heel of her boot lodges snugly into the crevice her bat oh so nicely made.
“Now, we both know how much I hate liars,” her tone is thick of condescending disappointment, as if she was directing this towards a child.
Cocking her head to the side, there’s a demented glee that overcomes her when blatant terror washes over the woman’s face, glancing at who she can only assume were once her friends and comrades. Crumpled figures, more worse off than some of the oldest living dead now walking the streets with them, once she was done tearing through them for answers.
Answers that she was still not receiving.
Pushing her heel down, she easily grabs the woman’s attention once more.
“Where is she?”
“I promise you, I do not know! I’m not part of that faction! I don’t deal with outsiders.”
In those words is a clue, she just knows it. When she first busted into this little commune that she tracked down, she didn’t know what to expect. At her highest of hopes, to see Sejeong right there upon arrival, ready to be whisked away. But she was now double digits in her kill count for this day and location alone, the blood smeared along her skin and clothing tacky and getting a little rancid.
She was losing her patience.
“How about I rephrase it then - Where are they?”
Something glints in the woman’s eyes and she thinks bingo. Impatience upon her and the knowledge of being one step closer to Sejeong has her lifting her leg, knee high up to her chest before she stamps it back down. And there it is - the crunch, the vibration, the power. She can hear it, feel it, see it, and when the woman wails at her as the heel of her boot is now planted firmly on the ground, wedged between the now two parts of her leg, she breathes in through her mouth and it’s almost like she could taste the agony she evoked too.
Crouching down, she palms at the woman’s clammy face, the shadow of affection. “Hey, hey, hey,” she pats on her cheek, trying to gain attention once more as the woman’s eyes stay crossed, eyebrows scrunched and most likely having an out of body experience. This won’t do.
“Where are they?” Her pats become a little more heavy handed until the cheek under her palm is blotted with red polka dots, veins bursting from her slaps.
With a sigh, she straightened back up. Holding the handle of her bat with both fists, she stretches her arms out and twists at her waist, feeling a nice crack in her back, before she recoils, mimicking batting swings.
“Y’know,” she says absentmindedly, bringing her next swing up and down until it hovers just behind her back.
“You’ve got two legs.”
And that’s her only warning before she has the bat arching back over the air, smashing into the woman’s uninjured leg, her decorations of wrapping barbed wire and drilled in nails biting and ripping into flesh.
Placing her foot right next to her bat for leverage, she pushes her weight down as she yanks up, dislodging her heavily adorned metal bat from the mangled leg. “So,” she huffs, trying to regain her breath, pushing her overgrown bangs from her eyes.
She really needs that haircut pronto. She can’t go around painting her face with blood. She also doesn’t think Sejeong would be too happy with the slick back bangs look with dried blood working as gel substitution.
“Shall we try this again?”
