Round 2: Visual

Prompts should be based on a visual medium that isn't text. For example, it could be a moment between the idols that you want to be expanded, it could be a scenario with other people, or a moodboard of aesthetics you'd like to match the fic.

Embedding images:

1. Capture the image URL: Right-click on any image and select [Copy Image Address], or upload your screenshot to an image-hosting website like Imgur, then right-click and select [Copy Image Address] from there (on Imgur, the URL should end in a file type like [.jpg] or [.png])

Embedding videos (YouTube/TikTok/Twitter etc.):

RULES

• • You are not required to have a Dreamwidth account to participate. There are no signups necessary. You may post anonymously if you want.
  • There will be 3 rounds of this fest, and 1 round will be opened each week of the fest. Rounds will be left open for fills and comments, so there is no deadline for participating.
  • Prompts do not have to be claimed before you write them, and they can be filled by more than one person.
  • Once a round is open, you can continue submitting prompts for it until the end of the fest moderation period. (Ex: On February 17 after Round 3 opens, you’re still allowed to submit prompts to Round 1 and 2.)
  • There is no minimum or maximum word count for fills. In the spirit of the fest, we encourage you to write shorter works, but any length is welcome and appreciated!
  • Users are allowed to crosspost their fic on any other site, such as AO3. However, we ask that when possible, writers post the text of their fills as a reply to the prompt and include a link to an AO3 post if they choose to do so, instead of just linking to an AO3 post in their comment. This helps keep discussion in our community!
  • Feel free to subscribe and join the comm to keep track of updates and view them on your reading page.

CONTENT
Prompts and fills have to center around K-pop girl group member(s). This includes:

• All active and former girl group members
• Female soloists
• Female members in co-ed groups
• Any female idol or trainee affiliated with K-pop (e.g. GP999 contestants, AKB48 members who featured in Produce48)
• Slash, gen, het, and trans works are all accepted as long as they involve at least one girl group member

Mina wonders if her honour is worth it. What has it gotten her? Riches beyond measure, and a vow to a master she cannot trust.

Mina parries a blow, but doesn’t move forward to press an advantage against the assassin. Her feet stay planted firmly on the stone floor, unmoving in the doorway. The princess is behind her unmoving and even with her back to the princess, Mina can tell she’s staring at her, waiting for a mistake.

Mina intercepts another blow with a swing of her blade. The assassin is skilled. Mina can tell by the way they’re probing her defences, and the speed at which they meet Mina’s strikes.

Mina sees the throwing knife glinting on the assassin’s wrist but she doesn’t rush to get rid of it. There’s a part of Mina that wants to step out of the way, to witness the knife fly into the princess’ heart. What expression would she make? Would she feel an ounce of what Sana felt? Mina’s heart pangs at the thought of her commander, so much so that she allows a strike to hit her abdomen. The princess sighs behind her, and she bites back a groan as pushes the assailant backwards.

Mina shouldn't have accepted Sana’s dying plea. She should have left with Jihyo. She should have died for Sana. She shouldn’t have made that vow. Should have. Shouldn’t have. Should have.

But her worthless honour is all she has now. Who is she without it? Nothing. No one. A failure in a footnote of the Im’s royal history. She’s too far gone. The knife is thrown and Mina sways into the trajectory of it, letting the knife settle into her left arm. She slides forward, mixing up the timing of her swings, unsettling the assassin into a defensive position.

She’s down to one arm now, the pain getting too much in her left for her to use in any useful way. Mina doesn’t need it anyways, not with the way the assassin is panicking. So much for being skilled, Mina thinks. Mina kicks the assassin’s leg and they clearly did not anticipate. She takes advantage of the stumble to drive her sword into the heart. Mina looks into the dying light of her opponent's eyes and wonders if they curse their master for the command that ended their life. She wonders if Sana felt the same as she sheathes her bloody sword.

Mina steps over the body, returns to the princess, unsteady and bleeding but with the princess unharmed. She drops to kneel in front of her, offering the bloody knife with both hands. She hopes the princess will forgive the shaking of her left arm.

“Your Highness,” Mina whispers.

Nayeon looks down at her, picking up the knife with her gloved hand.

“Sana was right,” Nayeon smears the blood onto Mina’s cheek with the flat of the blade. “You are useful after all,” She drops the knife unceremoniously on the ground, and retreats to her quarters.

Blood drips down the side of Mina’s face, feeling emptier than ever but with her honour intact.
