Prompts should be based on a visual medium that isn't text. For example, it could be a moment between the idols that you want to be expanded, it could be a scenario with other people, or a moodboard of aesthetics you'd like to match the fic.

Yunjin flutters around their dorm, humming softly under her breath as she grabs her wallet and stuffs it into her puffer bag.
Minjeong doesn’t look away from her phone when she asks, “Band practice?”
“Yup,” Yunjin confirms, pulling on a sock. “Want me to get you dinner on the way back?”
“No,” Minjeong shakes her head. “I’ll just eat something from the pantry.”
Yunjin pauses to give a disapproving look to Minjeong. “Why don’t you come along? The rest of the band would be cool with it, and we can get dinner together afterwards.” She stands up, straightening her skirt as she says, “Besides, I told you we’re down a guitarist—”
“Yunjin,” Minjeong frowns. “I’m not interested in joining your band. And I have a quiz due tonight anyway.” The excuse sounds feeble, and she winces as she utters it. Yunjin cocks an eyebrow, staring at the state of Minjeong—comfortably nestled in bed, far from the desk she should rightfully be seated in.
Yunjin shakes her head, sighing. “Alright. I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”
Minjeong hums in acknowledgement. She hesitates, before calling out, “Have fun.”
-
The truth: Minjeong’s schedule has been ridiculously hectic ever since she’s stepped foot on campus. Double majoring coupled with her part time job means that she barely even has time for herself, much less a club.
When she’d told Yunjin that they were going to enroll into the same university, Yunjin had been so excited, hugging her immediately as she squealed into her ear, We can finally be roommates.
A few weeks into the first semester, and Minjeong’s university life was proving to be far from anything she’d anticipated. Two majors meant that her timetable was significantly more filled than Yunjin’s, and despite living together, they only managed to catch each other in the early mornings or late evenings.
The actual truth: A few weeks into the first semester, on the way back from a lecture, Minjeong had caught Yunjin busking at the university plaza. A sign near one of the speakers read: OPEN MIC. ALL WELCOME!
There was a crowd gathered around the set up; a guy on acoustic guitar, someone on the cajon, and Yunjin, right in the centre, smiling brilliantly as she sang.
Minjeong doesn’t recognise the song, doesn’t realise she’s already late for her next tutorial. She’s focused on the people flocking closer, curious about the crowd that had already formed, and lured by the pretty song Yunjin delivers, an irresistible call—one Minjeong herself is tempted to answer.
She shakes her head, and pulls herself away from the crowd, away from Yunjin. The sight is something Minjeong isn’t unused to, that look of awe plastered on every single person’s face, captivated by Yunjin’s performance.
She applies for part time jobs the day after. When she calls to update her mother about it, she frowns, worried as she tells Minjeong that she can increase her allowance if it’s insufficient. Minjeong only shakes her head, insisting that it’s something she wants and can manage. She doesn’t tell her mother about the knot that grows and grows at the back of her throat.
-
The best and worst thing about Yunjin is that she’s the easiest person in the world to talk to.
Minjeong remembers her first day in symphonic band back in highschool, being terrified of the noise, the crowd, the seniors milling about in the band room. She grips her clarinet case tightly, and stands near the entrance of the room, unsure if she should enter.
Her saviour comes in the form of a tall, lanky girl, clumsily lugging her own instrument case and crashing straight into Minjeong.
“I’m so sorry,” the girl exclaims, looking sheepish. She gives Minjeong a once-over, bowing and apologising again. They stand by the entrance, and there’s a brief silence before the girl asks, “This is the room for symphonic band right?”
Minjeong nods, cautious.
“Are you new too?” The girl waits for Minjeong to respond, eyes brightening when she realises Minjeong is a junior as well. “I’m Yunjin! Did you play the clarinet before this? When we were doing auditions I was terrified because the conductor seemed really unimpressed.”
Minjeong replies brief, quiet answers to Yunjin’s questions, still a little too anxious to really engage in the conversation. Yunjin walks further into the room as she talks, stringing Minjeong along with her. The tightness knitted into her shoulders loosen, and Minjeong thinks, Band’s going to be fun with her.
It’s the same now, years later.
They’re in one of their only shared classes, a general mod for project work. Yunjin had gone off earlier because she had an errand to run in the morning.
When Minjeong enters the classroom, she’s unsurprised to see Yunjin chattering away to a couple of people at the table she’s seated at. Yunjin spots Minjeong by the doorway, and waves her over. “Minjeong! Over here!”
Minjeong grins and makes her way past the other tables to join them. “Who are…”
“Ryujin,” Yunjin gestures to the girl seated on her left, and to the girl on her right, “Yuna.” Minjeong gives a small wave, and takes a seat across from Yunjin, the only seat available at the table.
As the class carries on, Minjeong catches Yunjin and Ryujin whispering to each other. Yunjin tilts her laptop screen towards Ryujin, giggling when Ryujin points excitedly at something on the screen. It’s as if they’ve known each other for years.
Minjeong tears her eyes away, and tries her best to focus.
Later, after class is dismissed, she hears Ryujin tell Yunjin, “I’m so glad you’re in my class. I keep hearing horror stories about the group work, but since we’re in the same group I’m not really worried anymore. I think class will be pretty fun with you.”
Minjeong doesn’t hear what Yunjin replies—she’s already halfway out the door.
-
Minjeong pushes through the crowd, Yizhuo in tow. She’s already regretting coming so late; shoving past sweaty bodies to get a good spot near the front is way harder than she thought it would be.
“Hurry,” Yizhuo hisses behind her. “I think their set is going to start soon.”
“I’m—” she weaves past a rowdy group of friends jumping to the music, nearly stumbling in the process. “I’m trying.”
It’s a good thing both of them are small; They make it about 2 rows away from the front, right as the current band closes their set.
And then—Yunjin comes out, dressed in a tight black dress, a leather jacket draped over her shoulders. Bold makeup is painted on her face, and layers of jewellery adorned on her neck. It’s a side Minjeong doesn’t expect to see. Yunjin takes centre stage, grabbing the microphone and bringing it to her lips.
The entire venue falls into silence, and Minjeong feels the push of the crowd, as if the whole audience is straining to get closer, straining to hang onto every word Yunjin says.
Yunjin introduces her band members to the crowd, in that bright, charming voice of hers, and Minjeong’s heart pounds hard in her chest.
“And I’m Yunjin, the vocalist! All of our songs are self-composed—”
“By Yunjin herself!” The drummer exclaims from the back. Yunjin laughs, embarrassed.
“—so we really hope you’ll like it!”
The crowd roars in anticipation, and as the set starts, Minjeong is plunged into pretty guitar riffs and melodies that enrapture her. The lyrics Yunjin sings, raw and heart-wrenchingly honest, almost make Minjeong want to turn away.
She doesn’t. She remains rooted to the spot, eyes locked on Yunjin the entire time. There’s a Yunjin Minjeong is only familiar with from afar—the Yunjin who shines the brightest, who looks the most free, when she’s up on stage performing.
She knows the crowd feels it too; this spellbinding music, the intimacy of the lyrics Yunjin is sharing with them. She knows they’re all helpless to her charm, just as much as she is.
When the whole concert comes to an end, Minjeong waits patiently backstage while Yunjin speaks to the numerous people clamouring to commend her. Her heart pangs as she hears Yunjin’s loud, infectious laughter from the group. She scrolls through social media until the crowd finally clears up.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Yunjin bounds up to her, eyes sparkling with post-concert adrenaline.
“No worries,” Minjeong’s halfway to reaching out and wiping the sweat away from Yunjin’s forehead, but stops herself. “I—I ordered Thai,” she grabs her phone instead, and shows Yunjin the delivery app page.
“Thank you,” Yunjin beams, wrapping an arm around Minjeong’s shoulder. “Did you enjoy the set?” The tone she uses is lighthearted, but there’s an air of uncertainty lining her words.
Here’s the girl who’s captured the hearts of a whole crowd, worried about Minjeong’s opinion.
“Of course,” Minjeong tells her, genuinely. “Your music—you, it was gorgeous.”
Yunjin grins at her. “Let’s head home?”
Minjeong nods, and lets herself be tugged along by Yunjin, as always.
-
Minjeong falls sick halfway through midterms.
It’s fucking miserable, and she’s bed-bound (doctor’s orders) until the end of the week. Yunjin goes to great lengths to make sure she’s comfortable; she buys Minjeong porridge—the good chicken one that you can only get all the way at the Engineering Faculty—every day, reminds her to take medicine, brews chamomile for her sore throat, and sleeps in their shared room with the air conditioning off, even though Minjeong knows it’s terribly hot and stuffy for anyone who isn’t riddled with fever.
“You’re going to get sick if you stay this close,” Minjeong mumbles as Yunjin fusses over the washcloth on her forehead.
“I know you’re not going to bother doing this yourself,” is all Yunjin replies with, ignoring Minjeong’s warnings. She replaces the washcloth with a newly soaked one, the coldness chilling against Minjeong’s fevering skin.
It’s her fourth day fighting against the fever, and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.
“Do you have class today?” Minjeong croaks, voice still hoarse.
Yunjin shakes her head, frowning. “I’m meeting up with some friends. I told you about them? The theatre ones.”
Minjeong sifts through her foggy mind and barely recalls the new club Yunjin’s joining.
“Don’t go,” she blurts, surprising even herself.
“Hm?” Yunjin hums, pausing.
Minjeong hesitates, then nods, resolute. She grabs Yunjin’s hand, pulling her in. “Skip it. You can meet them another time.”
“What happened to being worried about me catching your fever?” Yunjin laughs, clearing the muddiness of Minjeong’s mind.
Minjeong fights against the drowsiness induced by her medication, forcing herself upright. “Please,” she mutters, an uncharacteristic neediness overwhelming her. “Stay here with me.”
“Alright,” Yunjin tells her, placatingly. She gently pushes Minjeong back down into bed. “I’ll stay. Go to sleep, Minjeong.”
Minjeong tightens her grip on Yunjin’s hand, before her eyes flutter shut, satisfied.
